Awards and Honours in EOS

Overview

Earth and Ocean Sciences faculty, staff and students have been successful at winning awards for excellence in research activities, teaching, leadership and service both within the Department, the Faculty of Science and UBC, as well as externally through honours such as the Canada Research Chairs and Fellowships from organizations such as the Royal Society of Canada, the Mineralogical Society of America and the American Geophysical Union, and the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society, among others.

The awards listed here reflects well upon the continuing excellence of EOS Department members and on their motivation to succeed.

The EOS Undergraduate Prizes and Scholarships Committee and the Faculty-Staff Prizes Committee help to identify and nominate faculty, staff and students in the Department for awards. Anyone wishing to nominate EOS faculty, staff or students in EOS for an award should contact the Chair of the appropriate committee.
