Annual Meetings of
The Society for Organic Petrology
TSOP sponsors an annual meeting which features technical talks and poster
presentations, business meetings, and social events. A field trip and short courses
are generally offered as well. The Abstracts and Program volume (ISSN
1060-7250) is distributed to all TSOP members.
Many of the past volumes (generally, those not resulting from joint meetings with other organizations)
can be searched for a fee at
AAPG DataPages.
A peer-reviewed collection of papers
from each meeting is published as a special issue of
Elsevier's International Journal
of Coal Geology (or, in past years, Organic
Geochemistry). The Journal is available at a special subscription rate for TSOP members.
Past meetings have been hosted by local committees in Virginia, Texas, Kentucky,
Illinois, Alberta, California, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Nova Scotia, Utah,
Indiana, Australia, China, British Columbia, Spain, Brazil, and Colorado. Our 2012 meeting
is planned for 15 - 24 September 2012 in Beijing, in conjunction with the ICCP meeting.
TSOP has also collaborated with other societies in scheduling its annual meeting
(AASP, 1988; Canadian Coal Petrographers Group, 1990, ; ICCP, 1992, 2007, 2008, 2009; Eastern AAPG,
1997; CSCOP, 1998, 2002, 2007, 2011) and in presenting joint sessions at other meetings (Geochemistry and Petrography of Kerogen/Macerals,
ACS, 1994; Appalachian Coal Geology, Southeastern GSA, 1995; Applied Topics in Coal
Geology, Southeastern GSA, 1998; ICCP, 2001). Further cooperative efforts with ICCP are underway for the 2012 and 2013 meetings.
