Applied Mineral Inventory
by
Alastair J. Sinclair and Garston H. Blackwell,
Cambridge University Press,
2001.
These materials can be used as supplementary to any of a wide range of commercially available software designed to assist in resource/reserve estimation. The software provided here is particularly useful in connection with the theme of the Sinclair-Blackwell text book and related exercises but has much broader application to practical problems of estimation and quality control. The software relates particularly to chapters 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 15 and 16.
Each program provided comes as an executable, self-expandable
file that contains an MS-DOS-based executable program, documentation for
the program and one or a few files that operate successfully with the program.
To obtain these files click on the link and save to a new directory on
your own computer. Then run the executable program to extract programs,
examples and documentation.

| P-rez.exe
(856 kBytes) |
An MS-DOS-based software package includes P-res.exe, with user manual and sample files, that permit a wide range of data analysis procedures using either D-Base or Geo-eas (simple ASCII) file formats. P-res permits rapid examination of histograms, probability plots, binary diagrams, triangular diagrams, contoured diagrams with the possibility of graphic output. Particularly useful for analysis of quality control data and for general exploratory data evaluation that forms part of a resource/reserve estimation project. |
| Gyz.exe
(145 kBytes) |
An MS-DOS-based software package, with user manual and sample files, that permits (i) the solution of Gy’s equation for fundamental sampling error, and (2) the construction of a sample reduction diagram. For purposes of construction of the sample reduction diagram the program provides options of various safety lines, including the user’s own. A useful program for designing a sample reduction protocol or for evaluating the adequacy of an existing protocol. |
| ErrorTHz.exe
(69 kBytes) |
An MS-DOS-based software package, including ErrorTH.exe with user manual and sample files, that permits determination of precision for replicate analytical data based on a method proposed by Thompson and Howarth. |
| Gainlosz.exe
(51 kBytes) |
An MS-DOS-based software package that contains the program Gainloss.exe to determine the inherent amount of dilution (gain) and ore loss that results from a specified average error in block grade estimation. The program uses a parameter file to specify the distribution of block grades, the cutoff grade and the block estimation error as a percentage and outputs tabulations of metal loss or gain for each small increment of grade about the cutoff grade. |
| IDWXVz.exe
(95 kBytes) |
An MS-DOS-based software package that contains IDWxv.exe and related parameter and data files, to estimate cross-validation grades for individual samples in a 3-dimensional array by nearest neighbour and several selected powers for inverse distance weighting. The program accepts data in Geo-eas format and makes use of a parameter file. Estimates are output in Geo-eas format for rapid evaluation by P-res. |
| IDWz.exe
(70 kBytes) |
An MS-DOS-based software package that contains IDW.exe and related parameter and data files, to estimate average block grades for a regular, 3-dimensional array of blocks by nearest neighbour and several selected powers for inverse distance weighting. The program uses a parameter file, accepts data in Geo-eas format and outputs data in Geo-eas format. The output information can be read directly by P-res for examination. |
